It is so much fun to look back at the before pictures to be reminded of the transformation that has taken place in our kitchen! The sink is my favorite part of my new kitchen. I had been using a single basin, shallow, 26″ sink for the past 10 years. So, when it came time to pick out the sink, I knew exactly what I wanted! I had my heart set on the farmhouse/apron front sink from Ikea. This new farmhouse sink was 36″ wide, exactly 10″ bigger.
At first, we thought it wouldn’t work in our kitchen, without a huge added expense. Then we sat down with an amazing kitchen designer, named Sarah, at our local Home Depot. We found out that it was definitely possible, and quite easy for her, to fit that sink into our new kitchen! She was also able to center the sink in front of our large kitchen window, which was very important to us as well. I must say, I loved our experience with Home Depot’s kitchen design process. They were extremely knowledgeable and really listened to what was important to us in a kitchen. We couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out!
Here are a few before and after pictures of the “sink corner” of our kitchen. You’ll notice that we moved the dishwasher to the left to gain the space we needed for the large farm sink. That also added a little more space to the right side of the sink as well, so we were able to add a lazy-susan to that corner cabinet. It was wasted space previously, and an added bonus to our new kitchen!
We really do love this sink and were pleasantly surprised by its price too. Another feature that I really like about this sink is that it sits all the way back to the wall. I love its look and drain board makes it super easy to keep clean! Hope you love farm sinks as much as I do! I’ll be back soon with more of our remodeling projects!
